Catalog Description
Fundamental principles of fluid mechanics and their application to engineering problems. Fluid statics. Kinematics of fluid flow. Dynamics of fluids. Differential analysis of fluid flow. Conservation of mass, momentum and energy for fluid flow problems. Flow of viscous fluids, simple laminar flow systems.
Course Objectives
The course aims to teach the fundamentals of fluid mechanics and their applications to basic flows. It will also cover conservation of mass, momentum and energy principles are applied to fluid flows.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss fundamental concepts in fluid mechanics such as viscosity and pressure,
- Solve fluid statics problems,
- Illustrate the utilization of fluid velocity and acceleration concepts through fluid kinematics principles,
- Apply Bernoulli’s equation for flow dynamics,
- Relate conservation of mass and momentum principles to fluid mechanics systems both in integral and differential form.
