Look Beyond Windows
In this session, we will discuss about the eternal debate of open source vs commercial software. Almost all of us are living within software boundaries that are imposed by commercial software such as Windows. We are made to believe that certain commercial software are irreplaceable; moreover anything else, especially open source software, is only for computer geeks who spend 16 hours a day in front of their computers, code viruses at the speed of electrons, and can assemble a computer system from individual components in under 15 seconds. I will try to demonstrate that, in fact, commercial software is replaceable, and open source software is for everybody who can type and click. We will also talk about how to "try" an open source operating system without altering the existing software setup on our computers.
