Catalog Description
Observation in early childhood education programs. Observing children, teachers, interactions, and environments. Observational processes. Observation and documentation techniques and tools. (The language of instruction in this course is both Turkish and English)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. design a variety of observation tools to assess young children’s development and learning
2. compare various forms and tools of observation in early childhood settings
3. identify major developmental characteristics of young children
4. outline the roles of teachers and children in early childhood settings
5. evaluate teacher-child interactions and interactions among young children in early childhood settings.
6. interpret observational data to plan, guide, and respond to young children’s needs.
