Catalog Description
European Union as a place to do business. Competition policy. Common external trade policies. Shared responsibilities of the EU and national governments for policies concerning financial services and investment.
Course Objectives

This course starts with a short history of entrepreneurship in European Union and followed by an in-depth look at subjects including but not limited to competition policy, common external trade policies, shared responsibilities of the EU and national governments for policies concerning financial services and investment; unique features of European markets, organizations, and social structures; how firms conduct marketing, branding, human resources, and strategic management; and identification of business opportunities in EU.

Software Usage
Students will use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) to work on their weekly assignments about 2 hours a week.
Course Learning Outcomes

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Describe competition policy, common external trade policies, shared responsibilities of the EU and national governments for policies concerning financial services and investment
2. Appreciate the unique features of Turkish markets, organizations, and social structures, and their impact on business in foreign markets
3. Explain how firms conduct marketing, branding, human resources, and strategic management
4. Identify future trends and business opportunities in EU
5. Gain practical perspective on diverse topics on business environment in EU
