Course Objectives

The main aim of this course is to introduce the components, processes, operations and principles of a manufacturing or service facility. The students will assess the objectives, constraints, performance criteria in the design of facilities. Optimization tools will be used to model and plan these systems.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Discover the manufacturing and service facilities and the integrated production and distribution processes
2. Assess the objectives, constraints, performance criteria in facilities design and planning
3. Identify the analytical support tools and their advantages
4. Develop the ability to use to define, model, formulate and solve real life production and logistics problems
5. Discuss the role of software usage for competitive advantage
