  • develop an understanding of language as a system,
  • describe the universal aspects of language and the differences among languages,
  • analyze language data and identify linguistic features of languages including phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse, and semantics,
  • compare language differences across dialects, situations, and styles.s.
