Catalog Description
Early childhood field experience with children ages of five and six. Instructional planning. Design of early childhood learning environment. Working as an assistant teacher. Assessment of children’s learning. Parent involvement. Early childhood professional development activities. (The language of instruction in this course is both Turkish and English)
Course Objectives
The course leads the students to realize their roles as a professional, criticize themselves and let them use ways to develop both professionally and personally.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. exemplify the roles of early childhood education professionals
2. review curriculum for kindergartners
3. plan developmentally appropriate activities for kindergartners
4. employ variety of developmentally appropriate instructional approaches, strategies and tools in in kindergarten settings
5. use multiple assessment techniques to monitor learning and instruction in kindergarten settings
6. evaluate how teachers involve families in their children’s development and learning
7. reflect upon their own experience in working with kindergartners
8. engage in personal and professional development activities
