Catalog Description
Different syllabi for young learners – ages 5 to 12- (story-based, content-based, thematic, task-based); effective use of children’s literature, classroom management, language presentation and practice according to syllabus type chosen.
Course Objectives

Students will be able to gain hands-on and theoretical knowledge in how to teach languages to young learners in the light of modern era needs and requirements as well as children’s literature.

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to

1)  Prepare different kinds of syllabi to teach foreign language to young learners- ages 5 to 12

2)  Incorporate children’s literature to teach concepts or a structure

3)  Implement effective classroom management techniques appropriate to the needs of young learners

4)  Demonstrate instructional language appropriate to the age and proficiency of the young learners

5)  Integrate 21st-Century-Skills to teach foreign language to young ones

6)  Plan different types of assessment procedures to measure progress and learning of young foreign language learners

7)  Utilize technology to present, practice and assess foreign language with young learners
