Catalog Description
Psychology of language learning and teaching. Psychological factors and their effects on language learning processes, learners and teachers. Individual differences in language learning and teaching process. Language learning methods in relation to psychological aspects.
Course Objectives

This course aims to provide a set of introductory instructions about psycholinguistic as well as psychology of language learning and teaching. It introduces the way of human’s language processing in the mind in line with the theoretical aspects of psycholinguistics. It, additionally, directs to the role of psychology in language learning and teaching process. It examines the individual differences influencing the language learning process and relates them to the current ELT methodology. The introduction to language teacher psychology stands to be one of the aims of this course. 

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

 

  1. describe the fundamentals of human’s language processing in line with psycholinguistics,
  2. identify the psychological factors influencing both language learners and teachers,
  3. interpret the role of psychology for language learning and teaching processes,
  4. employ psychological aspects of language learning in English classrooms.
