Catalog Description
Fundamentals of color theory. Color combinations, their types and their effects. Color perception. Color experience pyramid. Color systems. Visual and non-visual color perception. Synesthesia. Metaphor/story- based color application in interior architecture.
Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge pertaining to color theory and its applications in the interior architecture field. Students will be able to distinguish different color experiences and formulate exemplary combinations based on the Munsell color theory. Sensory exceptions such as synesthesia will be discussed as the course aims to emphasize perception and how color affects it. Furthermore, the course aims to enable students practice color combination systems as an applied project.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Recognize color theory, its history and effect on human perception,

2. Interpret color properties, color schemes and different types of color combinations,

3. Identify how different color combinations affect human perception,

4. Formulate correct color combinations to different types of interior projects.
