Course Objectives

This course offers a capstone learning experience to synthesize and apply fundamental concepts and principles from across a wide business education spectrum. The process of creating a business plan provides an in-depth view of the complex inter-dependency of the functional elements of an organization: marketing, finance, management & leadership and systems & operations.

Software Usage
Students will use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) to work on their weekly assignments about 2 hours a week.
Course Learning Outcomes

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Appreciate the unique characteristics, requirements and contributions of emerging enterprises and the challenges/obstacles the entrepreneurs behind these enterprises face
2. Conduct and report primary and secondary research for the business venture including appropriate due diligence assessment
3. Develop their capacity to think strategically about a business venture in a complex and changing environment
4. Present an innovative business plan
5. Integrate knowledge and skills from previous coursework and internship experience to produce an exceptional business plan
6. Practice leadership and organization skills by establishing priorities, setting realistic expectations, and completing objectives within a team environment
