Business environment analysis. Main business functions. Ethics, sustainability, and social responsibility for businesses. Doing business in global markets.
Course Objectives

The main objective of this course is to build a foundation of knowledge on the main functional areas of business such as strategy, management, marketing, accounting, finance, human resources, production and operations management. This course provides a broad overview of the key elements of the business organization as well as various theories and models of the firm and its environment.

Software Usage

Students will use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) to work on their weekly assignments about 2 hours a week.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to;

  1. Explain the different types, sizes and scope of organizations,
  2. Recognize the importance of ethics, sustainability and social responsibility for business,
  3. Demonstrate the interrelationship of the various functions within an organization and how they link to organizational structure,
  4. Use contemporary examples to demonstrate both the positive and negative influence/ impact the macro environment has on business operations,
  5. Determine the internal strengths and weaknesses of specific businesses and their interrelationship with external macro factors.
