Catalog Description
Transmission lines. Rectangular waveguides. Impedance transformations and matching techniques. Scattering matrix and impedance matrix. Experiments on microwave measurements and microwave matching circuits.
Course Objectives

This course aims to provide students with the ability to formulate voltage and current wave propagation models in high-frequency transmission lines. The course also enables students' rectangular waveguides, apply impedance matching techniques, investigate scattering and impedance matrices, and gain competence in microwave measurements.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successfully completed this course, students will be able to:
(1) Recognize the basic formulations of fields and mode types in transmission lines and waveguides,
(2) Explain the equivalent circuit model solutions for transmission lines,
(3) Utilize the techniques of impedance matching circuits for matching problems,
(4) Analyze impedance and scattering matrices of microwave passive components with two ports,
(5) Assess a power flow for low lossy type transmission lines,
(6) Design a microwave measurement setup and/or microwave matching circuits.
