Catalog Description
Major personality theories, including psychoanalytic and learning theorists, trait theorists, social-learning theorists and humanists. Measurement and assessment of personality.
Course Objectives
This course aims to provide students basic knowledge about major personality theories and research methods that are used to assess and/or test these theories. In each chapter, students will try to answer the following questions in relation with respective personality theory: “What is personality?”, “How are personalities shaped?”, “What are the factors affecting who we are right now?”, “In what ways do individuals differ from each other?”.
 
One implicit yet important goal of this course is that students will be become more comfortable at evaluating their everyday experiences from a new psychological perspective. In other words, they will gain clinical skills to apply the major theoretical concepts that they have learned in class to “real life experiences” .
