This course aims to provide an in-depth exploration of the values and standards that guide professional practice in psychology, including professional codes of conduct and philosophical ethical principles. Topics include confidentiality, multiple relations, informed consent, competence, professional boundries, integrity, cultural sensivity and respect.
1. Beginning the process of ethical acculturation by monitoring, detecting and solving ethical dilemmas of professional activities of psychology.
2. Balancing ethical standards with students' own background and cultural values.
3. Learning to make proper decisions about ethical issues in psychology research and practice using ethical codes of American Psychological Association (APA) and Turkish Psychologists' Association.
4. Gaining cultural sensivity towards minority groups (e.g. disabled, LGBT)
