Catalog Description
Inclusion and the scope of inclusion. Inclusive education: definition, content and importance. Legal basis of inclusive education. National and international regulations. Approaches and standards in inclusive education. Teacher roles in inclusive education. Inclusive curriculum and materials. Attitudes and values in inclusive education. Inclusive school and classroom. Action planning for inclusive education. Inclusive education practices: properties differentiating students, effective communication, language used, psycho-social support, differentiating teaching and examples, methods and techniques, planning teaching, inclusion in course materials and selection of inclusive activities. Course design practices.
Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge of how to implement inclusive education practices in learning settings. In line with this purpose, the course aims at teaching such topics as approaches to inclusive education and the prominent features of inclusive schools.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:  

1.       summarize basic concepts and principles related to inclusive education,

2.       explain legal basis of inclusive education, approaches and standards in inclusive education along with national and international regulations,


3.       exemplify inclusive curriculum and materials, attitudes and values in inclusive education along with characteristics of inclusive school and classroom,


4.       design lesson plans by using inclusive education practices,

5.     apply lesson plans she/he has prepared.
