Catalog Description
Art styles from Hun Art to Göktürk, Uygur, Karahanlı, Ghaznavid, Great Seljuk, Anatolian Seljuks, Principalities and Ottoman period, architectural, sculpture and painting examples of these periods are examined comparatively; Turkish art and artists starting from Republic Period Art.
Course Objectives

The purpose of this course is to inform students about art periods and artists starting from Turkish Hun to today’s Turkish art.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Establish the relationship between past and future in art.
  2. Observe the relationship between the artistic and cultural environment of the period and the artist.
  3. Recognize the national and universal aspects of Turkish art.
  4. Define the basic concepts, design, technical features and aesthetic values of Turkish art related to architecture and other works of art.
  5. Understand the legacy of Turkish art to the republic.
