Catalog Description
Basic concepts of child abuse and neglect; children rights, theories and models, the impact of child abuse and neglect on children, therapeutic process, psycho-educational programs on child abuse and neglect, code of laws regarding child abuse and neglect, research on child abuse and neglect.
Course Objectives

The main purpose of the course is to teach dealing with the child maltreatment in a holistic framework. Familial, environmental, and cultural factors, as well as the legal status in child abuse and neglect,  are discussed. 

Course Learning Outcomes

1. explain the concept, significance, and meaning of child abuse and neglect

2. be knowledgeable about the types of child abuse and neglect

3. be able to evaluate the physical and psychological consequences of child abuse and neglect

4. develop an intervention strategy about dealing with the cases of child abuse and neglect

5.develop a framework about preventing, and working with the risk and protective factors with a psychoeducational method.
