Catalog Description
History of psychopathology and mental health disorders. Definitions of abnormal behaviors. Basic concepts of psychopathology. Psychological assessment. Diagnostic criteria of DSM-V. Mental health disorders in DSM-V. Intervention and referral strategies.

This course aims to provide a framework to topics such as the importance of child and adolescent mental health and theories related to mental health.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- explain the etiology, epidemiology, and diagnosis of child and adolescent mental illness,
- judge the impact of psychopathology on the development of children and adolescents,
- explain school-based interventions for child and adolescent effectively,
- explain the major role of school counselor in supporting children and adolescents with mental health problems,
- classify whether the students need referral to the psychiatric settings.
