Catalog Description
New and different counseling approaches and models. Concepts, principles and techniques that form the basis of these approaches and models. Knowledge about conceptualizing and evaluating the problems of the client in the context of the subject approach and model. Sample applications.
Course Objectives
This course aims to provide an overview of and introduction to the contemporary and postmodern approaches and models in counseling and therapy.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
define the use of old therapy schools in the contemporary practice of counseling and therapy,
summarize the principles of contemporary counseling and therapy approaches,
describe a postmodern understanding of counseling in various issues of the contemporary world,
evaluate common cases encountered in the educational settings in the context of the contemporary approaches,
identify the techniques introduced by several contemporary counseling models.
