Catalog Description
The functions of children's literature. The importance of children's literature in child development. The development of children’s literature in the World and Turkey. Children's literature in the development of basic language skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking education and children's literature). Qualifications required in children's boks (formal, content and educational features). Children's literature and aesthetics. Example with unqualified children's books. Example types of children's literatüre (poetry, novel, story, theater, fairy tale, epic etc.). Digital children's literature products.
Course Objectives
This course aims to introduce students to the genres of children's literature. In addition, students are expected to gain experience in the selection of works suitable for the developmental characteristics of primary school children and how types of children's literature can be employed in instructional processes.

- explain the basic concepts, tools, types, structures and theories of children’s literature,
- compare children’s literature in different cultures,
- use children’s literature to support children’s literacy and language development,
- evaluates children's literature works according to their suitability for children,
- list the children’s books published in the framework of children’s literature and qualifications required in these books.
