Catalog Description
Fractions - student difficulties in learning fractions, different meanings of fractions, fraction models, equivalence, comparison, sorting, operations with fractions, decimal fractions. Geometry - development of geometric thinking in children, 2 and 3 dimensional geometry. Measurement - length, area, volume, time, weighing, money. Data management, tables and graphs. Instructional methods and strategies. Assessment and evaluation.
Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to develop skills in teaching mathematical concepts in primary school curriculum including fractions, geometry, measurement and data. |
