Connection skill. Types of connections: Connections within mathematics (Connections between procedural-conceptual knowledge, connections between concepts, connections between representations). Connections with different disciplines. Connections with real life. Role of connection skill in mathematics teaching. Integration of connection skill to the mathematics teaching
Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide students a point of view about definition and types of connections used in mathematics teaching, and also a deep understanding of the role of connection skill in mathematics teaching. With the help of several examples of instructional processes including connections within mathematics, with the concepts in other disciplines, and in daily life, students will have an opportunity to understand the position and importance of connection skill in mathematics teaching.

  1. express different mathematics concepts and rules with different representations,
  2. establish connections within mathematics,
  3. establish connection between mathematics concepts and concepts in other disciplines,

  5. design an instructional process that includes connection of mathematics concepts with other concepts in mathematics, in other disciplines and daily life.
