Catalog Description
The importance inclusiveness, equity and differentiation in education. Diversities in class including giftedness, special needs, language diversity, cultural diversity and other types of diversities. Characteristics of different student profiles in mathematics class. The purpose of differentiation in mathematics education. Principles of differentiated teaching. Differentiation of mathematics instruction according to readiness, interest and learning profile. The role of teacher and student in differentiated mathematics instruction. Design of content, process, product and learning environment in differentiated mathematics instruction. Evaluation in differentiated instructional design.
Course Objectives

This course aims to enable students to create contents, processes and products according to students' difference. It will help them design and implement differentiated instruction.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. describe the ways to respond to the different needs of the students in mathematics classroom,
2. list the differences that can be observed in the teaching environment among students,
3. list the principles in which differentiated teaching can be put into practice,
4. discuss on the practices in mathematics teaching according to the needs of the students,
5. design a mathematics lesson based on differentiation principles,
6. use different assessment and evaluation strategies in differentiated teaching.
