Catalog Description
Basic knowledge of structures, fundamental principles of structural behaviors. Relationship between structure, geometry and form. States of stress and deformation. Analysis of simple structural systems, force characteristics, internal and external forces, loads, moment, equilibrium, support conditions and reactions, shear and axial forces, bending moments.
Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to introduce basic principles of structural behaviors in relation to product design. The concepts of structural systems are covered, so that the students will be able to apply in their design processes.

Course Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the structural behaviours of different forms and geometries.
  2. Use analytical problem-solving techniques in examining structures of products.
  3. Apply the sense of structure when designing products.
